JAMAICA’S TROPICAL STORM WARNING LIFTED
Jamaica’s Tropical Storm Warning which was issued by the National Meteorological Service has now been lifted as Hurricane Tomas continues to move away from the island. The Met Office is reporting that Jamaica is now outside of the range of tropical storm force winds associated with the hurricane; hence, the threat of such conditions no longer exists.
While Jamaica experienced scattered rainfall in some sections of the island, due to the passage of the weather system, the government and people are grateful the impact of the system was less than anticipated.
With the passage of the system, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has deactivated the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and is encouraging a return to normalcy.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti.
